Which Forums Does ForumScout Support?

ForumScout supports virtually every forum on the internet – from Reddit to the most obscure forums you can think of, and everything in between. But how do we do it? Let's dive in.

ForumScout is a tool that allows you to track and monitor mentions of any keyword or phrase across the internet. The way ForumScout works is by using a combination of web scraping and APIs to collect data from these websites.

The majority of our data comes from third party APIs, which we use to get posts from the most popular forums like Reddit and Twitter/X. As of July 2024, we're using these APIs and web scrapers:

  • Real-Time Forums Search, by OpenWeb Ninja - This API allows us to access real-time data from all Google-indexed forums and search them for specific keywords.
  • Twitter, by davethebeast - This API gives us access to real-time data from X, and allows us to search for posts that mention specific keywords.
  • Official Reddit API - Reddit's official API allows us to access data directly from Reddit. The biggest limitation of this API is that it only allows us to search for posts, not comments.
  • PullPush - To get around the limitation of Reddit's official API, PullPush provides us with a way to access a real-time archive of Reddit comments.
  • Manual Web Scraping of Reddit's Search Page - PullPush can be quite unstable, so as a fallback we manually scrape Reddit's comment search page using Zyte's Scrapy Cloud.

We're constantly looking for new APIs and web scraping methods to improve our coverage and accuracy. If you know of any APIs or web scraping tools that we should be using, please let us know!

Is there a list of forums that ForumScout supports?

Unfortunately, no.

Google constantly indexes new forums and websites, so it's impossible for us to maintain a list of every forum that ForumScout supports.

If you're curious whether ForumScout supports a specific forum, the best way to find out is to sign up for a free account and try it out. If you can't find the forum you're looking for, let us know and we'll happily setup a custom web scraper for that forum, free of charge.

How can I request support for a specific forum?

If you're looking to track mentions of a specific keyword or phrase on a forum that ForumScout doesn't currently support, you can request support for that forum by sending an email to josh@forumscout.app.

We'll do our best to add support for that forum as soon as possible. In most cases, we can have a custom web scraper setup within a few days.
